Our Purpose

Our Purpose

“To gain understanding that wisdom may be vouchsafed to me.
To develop and prize health and vigor of body.
To cultivate acquaintance with many whom I meet.
To cherish friendships with but a chosen few and to study the perfecting of those friendships.
To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world’s work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service thereby bestowed and the talent of leadership multiplied.
To honor my home, my country, my religious faith.
To hold truth inviolable, sincerity essential, kindness invaluable.
To covet beauty in environment, manner, word and thought.
To possess high ideals and to attain somewhat unto them.
This shall be my purpose that those who know me may esteem Alpha Gamma Delta for her attainments, revere her for her purposes and love her for her Womanhood.”

What set Alpha Gam apart?: Pref night was what really sold me on Alpha Gam. During the party I felt at home and comfortable in my conversations with Maya who I had talked to previously. By the time I left, I felt like I had made a friend regardless of my decision that night. I knew then that I'd found a home full of sisters who would support me for my next 4 years at Georgia Tech.

What has this position taught you?:  Being VP Finance has forced me to become more organized, in all aspects of my life. Specifically with finances, I need to make sure I know where all of the money is coming from and going to, so staying on top of things was so necessary. This just helped me realize I needed to structure everything else too.

VP EVENT PLANNING

LAURA RODRIGUEZ

Year: Second

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Email: vpevents.gtagd@gmail.com

Hometown:  Alpharetta, Georgia

What set Alpha Gam apart?: During recruitment, Alpha Gam showed me just how many women are living with purpose each day who are great examples of strong women with aspirations. I grew up with two older sisters to inspire me every day, so finding a place away from them with so many women I can look up to really showed me Alpha Gam was for me.

VP MARKETING

ALICIA CHAN

Year: Third

Major: Computer Science

Email: vpmarketing.gtagd@gmail.com

Hometown: Kennesaw, GA

Best piece of advice you have received?: The best piece of advice I've ever received is to figure out what makes me happy. Not what makes others happy, not what others think about me, but truly -- what fills me with joy and what am I excited to pursue? Once you have that passion, it doesn't matter what obstacles come in your way, or what other people say about you. You've got something special to hold on to, and it will carry you through on your journey.

DIRECTOR OF PROPERTY

MADDIE BRICKELL

Year: Third

Major: Computer Science

Email: property.gtagd@gmail.com

Hometown: Lawrenceville, GA

The best piece of advice you've ever received?: The best piece of advice I have every received is something along the lines of I can do anything I want as long as I believe I can and put my mind to it. There are times at Tech when you may think you can't do it. But, truthfully, you can do absolutely anything you can put your mind to.

Our chapter house was updated in 2012 to the 5-story, beautiful home that stands today. There are 48 women living in the house, with each room having a suite-style layout. On every floor, you can find comfortable study rooms and lounge areas. One of the many highlights of the house are the porches on the second and third floors as well as the front porch with its swing.
